Wishing You Were Here Sweetheart...

hello

As said in my earlier post i shall blog about my lunar new year :)... its nothing much really...

First Day
For the first day... i woke up late and i had to rush to get dressed and had the tea ceromony with my parents, grandma and my uncle. I have a very small family my dad is the eldest of the family and only has one younger brother who only has one son... so the ang's third generation in Malaysia only consists of Sherman, Natalie and Nicole. We don't really get visitors on the first day so normally, i would take my singaporean cousin to the cinema to catch a movie cause he'll be leaving the next day anyway... so this year we watched Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans. Being a fan of the underworld saga i was excited... will write a review about it later on when i feel like writting...

So while waiting for my mum to fetch us from the mall we took some shots... hehe.. x) enjoy...

L-R: Sherman, Nicole and Natalie

Didn't you Know that we are very very serious people?

Doing something random

Second Day

For the second day, we had my mum's third sister's family come over for a visit but my cute little nieces and nephew didn't come :(... but its ok i then went to my mum's second brother's house to visit and i met them there... their so cute now... just look at them :)

Well thats all for now :) hope your having an awesome day ...

The Screen Actors Guild Awards

hello everyone

Last monday other than the fact that it was the lunar new year and australia's national day, it was also the day where all the hollywood stars came out all dressed up to attend the 15th annual Screen Actor Guild(SAG) awards. As usual I was watching to see what people wore and whether my fav fashionistas hit it out of the ball park or they needed to divorce their stylist x) so here's my pick on the top 7 best dressed for the SAG awards.

Anne Hathaway

The star of Bride Wars of wars did it once again. First at the Golden Globes and now again at the SAG Awards . Doesn't she look stunning? Wouldn't you agree with me that this Azzaro creation makes her look like a Grecian Goddess. Anne’s simple, stylish gown, drapes beautifully and the gold detailing adds to the luxury and glamour. White can be hard to pull off, especially on pale skins, but somehow Anne manages it perfectly. Furthermore, it looks effortless and natural.

Amy Adams

Is nominated for her role in the movie Doubt this year. However for me whenever i hesar her name or see her the movie Enchanted with the scene where she's dancing with Patrick Dempsey plays in my head and then i go why can't i be dancing with him... lol jk.. ok back to business... this eggplant colour dress goes well with her very pale skin and red locks. In case your wondering whats that thing on her waist well its a big bow i think. If it is well to be completely honest it goes very well with the dress its not too big or small that makes it look like the dress is wearing her and not she wearing the dress. Besides, bows are all the range now in the fashion world. In short i love the dress and her...

Claire Danes

This year the host of the SAG awards wore a nice sultry red dress. With the back sleeves of the dress slighty more on one side of the shoulder than the other. That sleeve alone was a breathe of fresh air from the usual one shoulder desgins that have been dominating red carpets on all the award shows. This red Nina Ricci silk number gives Claire’s tiny frame curves and the neckline is sublime.

Evan Rachel Woods

The star of the movie the Wrestler's gown was designed by Monique Lhuilier. This glamouress teal number reminds me of old hollywood timeless classics. It also continues the one shoulder trend and invokes the spirit of the Hollywood age. It shows that simple can be show stopping.

January Jones

Yet another Grecian Goddess look which is one of the looks that i love so much. why? Cause it looks elegant, timeless and feminine. This beautiful creation by Andrew Gn shows that with a little bit details at the right places and amount a black dress doesn't have to be boring. Mind you her hair looks perfect with the dress not too overdone and it looks fresh.

Kate Winslet

A beautiful blue cobalt number. This dress is assymetrical and it has that off shoulder but also on shoulder going on. Its a very bold colour for Kate as she normally wears paler tone sort of colours. But this bold colour really makes her pale skin and beautiful blonde hair stand out. Plus her fishtail Narciso Rodriguez gown compliments Kate’s curves whilst the royal blue is a fabulous and show stopping colour. On another note i'm so glad that Kate does not want to do Botox. :) She says that she won't do it cause it would take away her ability to act convincely.

Penelope Cruz

Azzedine Alaia always creates a great line, and this dress is beautifully cut. Love the new and different neckline. I think its metal. The train is gorgeous it suits her body too.

So thats my picks for my top 7 best dressed for the SAG Awards... so lets take a look at the misses shall we?

Laura Linney
Normally wearing something from Micheal Kors would be amazing cause he knows how to make stunning dresses but i don't know. there's just something weird about this dress that i can't put my finger on. tere's just something so wrong and weird about it. any ideas?

Eva Longaria
To be completely honest, i'm so dissapointed with what Eva wore. I thought she would have put together something as glamourous as she did like in the Golden Globes 2009 but oh well we're all humans and we all make mistakes i guess. A little bit too much ruffles here and there...

Nicolette Sheriden
I don't like the one sided sleeve thing... sorry...
America Ferrera
I'm sorry but i don't like the Vera Wang gown... i don't like the black things... and i wished she pulled her hair back. i think it would have looked nicer....

So those are my picks for those who dressed lovely and those who didn't. Remember this is only my opinion. I'm not saying that i can dress well or anything. Just doing this for fun. Feel free to say what you want to say in my cbox... The next event will be the Grammy's and the Orange British Academy Awards.
will be blogging about my Chinese New Year in the next post when i feel like writting it... Maybe tomorrow... Until then au revoir

Chinese New Year

hello

the lunar new year is coming yay!!! its the year of the ox x) ... hehe according to my chinese horoscope its going to be a much better year than the year of the rat.. so i guess thats good news considering what i've been facing throughout the entire rat year. i had a lot of foot injuries, almost had to get admited into the hospital, was ill all the time, my stomach went haywire more than usual and lots more calamities... but on the bright side the year of the rat tighten my bonds with my sisters from another mother and father. brought me closer to my mum and sister and introduced me to a bunch of new friends (G11) and it gave me more chance to be independent in a way... if you know me then you'll know what i'm talking about ;) ...

Do you guys believe in chinese astrology? haha i know a lot of people who think its a bunch of crap but for i believe in it... for some reason i've been rather superstitius since i was a little natalie.... so here's what they predicted for the Horse people in the year 2009...

Your sign is Horse.

Things are looking up. Oxen admire your stamina and ability to undertake hard labor without a whimper or a whinge. This then should be a terrific year for Horses. No interference. No meddling in your business. No directives. However, Ox years are not brilliant for the Horse’s romantic life. You may indeed fall in love this year. And when you fall, you crash. Thunderously.
But this year, the more passion you throw at your chosen significant other, the less the person seems to want to cozy up to you. You can avoid being disappointed in love by simply leaving your hormones at the gate and running the race alone. Your professional picture bodes nothing but success. So long as you apply perpetual elbow grease and show persistence, the Ox will not only stay out of your way, but will applaud you, encourage you and when he can, recommend you highly to any influential people you may need to know in order to advance your career.

Health? Nothing serious or life threatening is visible on the surface. But you really ought to look after yourself better. Horses tend to think they are invincible and rarely, if ever, bother going to doctors or visiting other health practitioners. Avoiding the symptoms you have been living with now for far too long without a medical opinion or two could lead to a chronic illness (or worse) which will stay with you for at least the next dozen Chinese years.

My warning about possible illness is not meant to frighten you, but to keep you on track. You are not exactly what I would call "devil-may-care" about health. But you own the opinion that you are not only self-sufficient and disgustingly healthy, but more or less invincible. Hooray! Confidence of this type is all too scarce in today's world. But isn't it wise to remember that we are all expendable and that you, Horsey are no exception to the rule?

Basically, I don't know why I ever tell you Horse people to DO anything. You are doers by nature and you DO things all the time. Trouble only arises when someone else suggests you do something you don't want to do. You simply will not do anything you do not wish to do. Whatever you undertake, you do well and thoroughly. The way you work when you do work would put even the Ox to shame. But you do what you want, when you want to do it - and only when you feel like it.

Your love life may be static this year. You financial picture however picks up straightaway when the Chinese year begins. You will eventually make some extra money doing something you love to do. It may be teaching a skill or taking care of someone who is ill or consultant on a startup that's in trouble. But whatever it is, you like doing it and... as with the rest, you are excellent at what you love to do.

Meanwhile, as this year will tend to take up almost all of your time for work projects, make sure you take some time off to nurture your creativity. Paint, sew, cook, sing, dance or write poetry. Without a creative outlet, you tend to go a bit mad and start kicking holes in the stable walls. Use every spare moment to practice doing what you love most.

I don't know if what they say is true but hey its no harm to read for some it might even have some good laughs... anyways

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone !
May you have a very happy and prosperous year of the ox :)

A Healthier You In A Few Minutes

Here are some simple steps to keep your health in check when your on the go. It just takes 10 minutes.

1. Straighten Your Back

Stand before a full length mirror in your underwear only and examine your body from the front and side. Things such as weak abdominal muscles, a "muffin top" waist, or slouching shoulders will strain your lower back You should stand up straight with your chest out, shoulders back, head and neck aligned, stomach and pelvis upright. Good posture should be practiced throughout the day.

2. Find The Mole

A majority of us has at least a few flat or raised spots on his skin. It's important to get to know your moles, because there are some cases where they become cancerous. The ones to look out for, often have an irregular border and usually are darker than your skin, with color varying within the mole. Be sure to check areas not normally visible such as under your arms and in skin folds, on your back, and in areas covered by hair. You can always ask a spouse or friend for help, or use a second mirror. If a mole changes or if you find new spots it is advisable to see a dermatologist mmediately.

3. Improve Your Balance

You are less likely to fall and sustain injuries with good balancing skills. To test your balance, see if you can stand on one leg for 30 seconds. If you can then you can try it with your eyes closed for about 10 seconds. If you can't do either, practice some balance maneuvers. Brush your teeth while standing on one leg, or do a "calf raise". A 'calf raise' is standing on your toes without holding on to anything. Aim for a full minute with your eyes open.

4. Check Your Pulse

One good indication of a persons fitness level is his or hers heart rate. Measure it by finding your pulse on your wrist or neck. Then count the beats for 30 seconds and multiply by 2 for your rate per minute. Normal is 60-100, but the lower normal range usually means better fitness. If your resting pulse is above 90, you may need more aerobic exercise, like walking, stair-climbing, or biking. If the rate is above 100, consult your doctor.

5. See the light

Hold up a sheet of white paper with words on it. If you wear glasses, keep them on. Closing one eye at a time and alternating from eye to eye, look at the print. Is it just as sharp with each eye? Is the paper equally bright with each eye? If you notice a difference, it's time to see your eye doctor to make sure a cataract isn't forming.

6. Smell the coffee

Can you smell the difference between coffee and tea, lemons and oranges, peppermint and cloves? If you can't, you may be losing your sense of smell. One study of older people found that the inability to recognize certain smells predicted memory loss and early Alzheimer's disease. Of course, you may just have a stuffy nose, but do see a doctor if you notice a change in your smelling ability that's unrelated to a cold or allergies.

It only takes 10 minutes to do all these easy and simple steps. So why not do it? Remember your health is important too.

Memo To Self

dear self,

please be aware that you have a cold and soon to come a very very sore throat.... you should not have gone to one utama without a jacket and ate cold noodles, sushi and ice green tea. see what you've done to yourself.... sighs... you better take care of yourself and make some chicken noodle soup... get well soon

yours sincerely,
natalie

The Golden Globes

hello everyone

its award season :)... time to check out what everyone's wearing hehe... winning is kind of important too don't get me wrong but isn't the process more important... anyways here are my picks on the top 5 best dressed... its just my opinion... you can disagree with me if you want...

Anne Hathaway

I love this dress. the colour brings out her pale skin tone and those red lips just pop for me. i love the fact that they added designs on the top and left the botton plain cause if they didn't it would be a little too much isn't it....

Kate Beckinsale

this dress is so fitting on her body and it makes her look great. the top of the dress reminds me of flower petals. Calla lilies...love the bottom too....

Eva Longaria

This girl can really dress up :) i like her.. she can carry any colour imaginable and majority of the time she wears latin designers... i love the corset top and i love the fact that she didn't pair it with gold accessories if not that would have been very boring... go red and silver !

Evan Rachel Wood

I'm normally not a big fan of ruffles but this girl has totally changed my mind... love the earrings too... :)

Elizabeth Banks

She may be modeling the most popular shade of the evening, but she sets herself apart by slipping on a gorgeous, Grace Kelly-glam version of the neutral trend. The shapely actress gets nearly everything right with her daintily ruffled, cap-sleeved J. Mendel gown and her flipped-back, clipped-back throwback of a bob. Her only misstep: That honking diamond necklace, which clashes -- as much as copious amounts of precious stones can clash -- with her pretty couture.

To see the worst dressed please go on over to my sisters blog :) ... bye for now

Eventful Days...

hello

Saturday was so nerve wrecking ... i wish i could control my nerves but i had a lot riding on my shoulders during that time and you know me... i want this so bad that I'll give away my sports car (if i had one) just to be able to get into that university... i want this so bad.. i want to go there.. I've always loved that country that place .. and besides the university looks so nice and its very very established.. were talking about a 100 year old university by 2011... i want this so bad.. i hope they give this to me.. i cannot say anything else except i want this so bad...

i sat down on a chair to face the professor
he asked me questions which i rather not hear
my body trembled violently
as i tried to find the words to say
in the end all i said was what i could have think of
only to realised that i wish to answer it again
i could not help but feel intimidated by the others around me
but what was i suppose to do
he questioned me about Darwin
and many more
its not that i don't know
i just couldn't
as there were others trying to claim the prize
knocking me out of the ring to take it from me...
i hope they give it to me
as i want so bad to go there....
i hope that gives u a glimpse or rather a gist of what happened on Saturday... i doubt you'll understand it though but i hope you'll at least try...

Books, Sweat and Aspirations

Yello Stinky Fellow

Today was a pretty eventful day :) i liked it ... cause the pass few days seemed to pass by so slowly... sometimes dislike not being busy enough cause its like everytime i'm free enough the world around me is too busy to fit me into its realm...

It started in the morning for some reason i woke up extra early (i've given up waking up early cause there is no point) ... As i recall someone wanted to pick me up extra early today ;) anyways that person was behind schedule by a lot...

I went to college today to sell off my old SAM books cause i no longer need it anymore... it was hard to part with my books but oh well... When we arrive there everyone was having a hard time selling off their books and i wasn't in my sales persons mood today ... so freaking saddening on the day i needed it the most...

It was like a pasar malam ... everyone was screaming different subjects in short form... the amusing part was that some was screaming 'psycho books psycho books psycho books!!!' lolz.. i know it means psychology books but it was funny to me esspecially in the blazing subang jaya heat ... cause it was like *does skater boy kind of voice *'dude someones selling psychotic books !!!'

Anyway i managed to sell all of my books except my lab coat and goggles hopefully someone would want to buy them if not then nevermind i guess... what to do right? I had a nice day today it was fun ... and i got to see yee lian after not seeing her for ages .. i'm glad she's alright... can't say the same for lw though... GET WELL SOON SWEETHEART *hugs*

I'm nervous about this saturday i hope i get it cause i really really would love to go there and study and maybe just maybe work there.... I hope they give me a spot... please please please... i've always wanted to go there... I love that place its young, dynamic and fresh ... i'm keeping my fingers crossed i hope i get it ... i really want to go for my own sake.... please pray for me...

Isn't it lovely...

I'm suppose to change my blog look maybe later when i've found the right picture...

Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.

I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run.

You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess

It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes.'

Romeo save me; they're tryin' to tell me how to feel.

This love is difficult, but it's real.

Don't be afraid; we'll make it out of this mess.

It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes.'

Au Revoir
